A love letter is an exchange of care. It’s an act of giving, and an affirmation of love, that says I’m thinking of you. Taking up space in someone’s head is such a gorgeous thing.
Love letters might be long scrawled handwritten things, but they are also odd little shopping lists, lottery tickets, a charm bracelet, a train ticket, a well-thumbed photograph and a note scrawled on the back of a cigarette pack. They might speak of hope, joy, lust, grief, fears or longing.
'To _____, Thanks for Everything, Emma' is a new Zine I've been working on for the last few months as a development from my Art Hostel Commission.
I've been collecting, composing and receiving love notes over the last year and this new collection pulls together some of my favourites & those which hold most meaning to me, alongside some of my own writing.
I've poured a lot of myself into this over the last few months, and pulling it together has been a really cathartic experience for me. It examines my relationships with others, myself and my illness. It contains my frustrations, my pain, my hope and my joy and love. I hope people can see themselves in here also. <3
Every zine includes:
1 x letter from the artist
1 x unique ‘love letter’ collected by, or from the artist’s own personal collection
1 x stamped blank envelope
